Northern Highlands
THE NORTHERN HIGHLANDS TOUR is where many adventure riders who want to ride in Vietnam start. The rugged, remote northern provinces of Vietnam offering a look back in time, with bamboo bridges and river raft crossings, rocky terrain and the Ha Giang Plateau.
We start in the lush lowland Red River Delta surrounding Hanoi, with green fields of rice, lakes and waterfalls and ride north, up and onto the Dong Van Karst plateau’s bordering China’s Yunnan Province, where some of the deepest gorges in Vietnam are and the infamous Ma Pi Leng Pass, where local ethnic minority tribes such as the H’mong work hard to make a living in the difficult terrain.
The riding is everything and anything you can imagine, we’ll let you chill and enjoy the views or test your skills. A few of the great stops along the way include Ban Gioc border Waterfall, the largest fresh water lake in Vietnam- Ba Be Lake, H’mong Palaces, Textile markets and much much more.

THE NORTHERN HIGHLANDS TOUR truly is a journey back in time to areas only recently accessible to foreigners and only those on motorbikes.
Reaching the most northern frontier regions, there is always more to see than we have time for. Simply seeing the local tribal communities living their lives is a wonder to witness and often has a profound effect on our tour groups.
The XR150 really is king for this tour, it’s light enough not to collapse the small buffalo trails, bamboo bridges etc and of course pick up but with enough power for everywhere we go. Riding in the North is very flexible and riding loop back to Hanoi means that it simplifies your international flights.
