The Long Way Down is a fantastic motorbike journey rich in history and culture. We’ll boat into cave systems used by the NVA (North Vietnamese Army) and stop at the famous Khe Sanh American Army base. Breaking out of the jungle and riding towards the coast we’ll enter the famous Vinh Moc tunnels before a swim and seafood by the beach, then onto the old Capital of Vietnam, the fabulous Imperial City of Hue, staying at one of the most beautiful Hotels in Vietnam, the Saigon Morin Hotel Est in 1901.
Following the coast south, we’ll ride over the Hai Van pass, historically the pass was a physical division between the kingdoms of Champa and Dai Viet before Vietnam was established. As we ride through Danang, a 25km long white sand beach lined with palm trees, we’ll visit pagodas and the Marble Mountains before riding into the stunningly beautiful ancient trading port city of Hoi An. A wonder of multicultural architecture and history. Those taking a longer tour can also visit the Angkor Wat of Vietnam, the Champa Temples of My Son, the foremost Hindu temple complex in Southeast Asia.
