Odyssey
Ever since Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey told the story of warrior Odysseus’ ten-year journey home from Troy, Odyssey has meant an Epic Journey.
Of all the modes of transport, a journey by motorbike is like no other. Total freedom to roam and explore territories few other travelers have been whilst still being able to cover distances on even the narrowest of trails. Touring by bike gives you the option to stop when, where and for as long as you like.
Also, on a motorbike you’re open to the elements which puts you in touch with your surroundings, the sun on your face or the cold rain as a storm passes over head, the smell of herbs and spices drying at the road side, cooking as we pass through a village, the sound of mountain tribes singing as they work in the fields or the laughter of children at play in a waterfall.
In Vietnam the bike really is King, with 80 million bikes here, it’s the peoples choice and with the ability to explore isolated regions on buffalo trails and small mountain passes, through jungles and ride along sandy beach paths where you’ll feel like you’ve travelled back in time with crops cultivated by hand, medieval tools still in use and houses built of bamboo and straw you’ll understand why the locals love them so much.
Vietnam is with good reason right now one of the most sought after countries to ride a motorbike. This is not only an Odyssey through time forgotten remote regions of Vietnam but a also a great opportunity to forget the fast hectic pace of the modern world. An opportunity not only to have the adventure of a life time here, but to reflect and consider your own life adventure.
A friend recently asked another friend of mine who had been on a Motorbike Tour with us, what is it like and his simple reply was, “It’ll change you”. I can say that nearly all of our Tourers go home, not only having experienced a great adventure but have had time to reflect on their own life adventure, while we’re out in the mountains and jungles away from all the noise.
